How I Work
It Is Good To Talk
I provide a secure base from which you can explore various unhappy and painful aspects of your life, past and present. This involves encouraging you to consider how you relate to significant people in your life and what your expectations are of yourself and others.
Psychotherapy and counselling are talking based therapies that can help with a wide range of issues including:
- Relationship issues
- Low confidence and self-esteem
- Work related pressures
- Cultural issues
- Obsessive Compulsive Behaviours
How I Work
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. This involves an integration of many psychotherapy theories and focusing on you as a whole, your thoughts, your perceptions, your feelings and your experiences. Not all clients are the same and I may draw more on one aspect with a particular client than on another.
I combine psychodynamic theories with a truly humane relationship, where empathy, positive regard and genuineness will allow my clients to grow and self-actualise. One of the first things that I discuss with clients is that I will not judge them; I am there to allow you to fully explore the core of your feelings, enabling you to be in charge of your own decisions.
I always ask my clients what their expectations are – what would you like to get from counselling? These expectations may change or remain the same throughout therapy. With some clients, goals and results are very important. Others need a space where they can talk freely and confidentially, and have no set goals.
As an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by and adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am subject to their Professional Conduct Procedure.
